These are cruise we have been on and my thoughts. For me the ports of call are most important. So. When planning my order of importance is:
I have the cruise companies I like. But with the right itinerary ... I will try another. These are cruises I have been on .. I always travel with a friend and our preference is a cabin with a balcony. Cruises Tahitian Princess From Papeete 23 December 2005 Princess Cruises: Excellent in every way with fine food, service and a fun crew. Great Cruise Director. Amazing Cruise of the islands. The shear beauty and colours of the water and the sky. The islands with the exception of Papeete, are undeveloped and natural to explore, not tourist traps and not for shoppers. Papeete is a busy small town and the island has some nice hotels set along the coast. Costs: Hotel and Food in Papeete are expensive. It’s nice to stay in hotels with a beach location. Local Bus: LaTruck a great and cheap way to get around. Would we do the same cruise again: Yes Rate Princess Cruises: Excellent Regal Princess Depart Fort Lauderdale 21 December 2005 Princess Cruises: Regal Princess was an older ship but very nice layout and a pleasure to be on. Excellent Food, service and crew. Great Captain and Cruise Director. This was a fantastic itinerary taking us down to Brazil. Ever changing with the spice islands and other islands. Traveling along the Brazilian coast, with its different and exciting cities, made every day an adventure. Then to end in Rio and adding a few days was excitement never to be forgotten. Rio De Janeiro: One reads a lot about the city. We stayed a few days at Copercabana Beach. We walked miles along the beach and visited all the sights in the old town plus the must see's Sugarloaf Mountain, and the famous statue Christ the Redeemer. Traveling with the local bus and walking. We never had any problems and found locals we spoke with very friendly and help full. Hotels were a fair price and the food in restaurants just something else to experience and enjoy. Would we do this trip again: Yes Rate Princess Cruises: Excellent – Special Comment the Captain he was Mr Personality, very informative and fun. Amsterdam Fort Lauderdale 19 December 2006 Holland American Line Amsterdam. A fine ship with good food, service and a great crew that seemed to take special care of you. The little touches ... Breakfast the crew member, they called him ‘Super Boy’, would hand you the tray and always knew your name, should you be alone then he would ask, were your partner was by name. No idea how he could remembered the names of so many people. Cocktails they always knew your drink and served nuts and hors d’oeuvre. Plus the little boy with the dinner gong. A good Caribbean itinerary. It also gave us our first view of the Panama Canal and we were lucky to be able to take a tour to Would we do this trip again: Yes Rate Holland America: The service was exceptional with personnel attention to detail. Costa Magica Fort Lauderdale 7 January 2007 Costa Cruise: This was a fun cruise and different in style with a touch of Italy. The evening activities were fun, one nights with Roman Toquers (provide by the ship) and other the destination evening. Food was excellent and the fresh bread to kill for. The crew were always happy and took great care of us. Great Cruise Director. Just a short cruise and a great itinerary. All of the ports were interesting and worth the visit. Would we do this trip again: Yes Rate Costa Cruises: Excellent and great value and fun. Celebrity Galaxi Athens 24 November 2007 - One way to Puerto Rica Celebrity Cruises: One of the older ships but a joy to cruise on with excellent service and style. We did a back to back cruise from Athens to Barcelona and then over the Atlantic to San Juan. Our first Atlantic Crossing and very exciting. With so many countries and ports his turned in to a great Adventure. Would we do this cruise again: Yes Rate Celebrity Cruises: Excellent with fine service and attention to detail. Norwegian Gem Barcelona 16 November 2008 - One way to New York NCL CruisesBarcelona Spain - View Barcelona Villefranche France - View Villefranche Livorno Italy Civitavecchia Italy Ajaccio Corsica - View Ajaccio Malaga Spain - View Malaga Cross Atlantic New York USA NCL Cruises: The ship was excellent, lots of fun with many zany trimmings around the ship. The ship always had lots going on. We had a great time and met lots of nice people on the ship. The food was excellent with a choice of many restaurants. NCL has Freestyle Dinning. I like set dining (late seating) and did not enjoy the Freestyle experience ... I must add however, this is my view only, I know others prefer it, also it did not spoil my trip. Would we do this cruise again: Yes Rate NCL. Excellent and with a style of its own. Celebrity Infinity Fort Lauderdale 7 December 2008 - One way to Buenos Aires Celebrity: Everything was perfect. Service, food and the attention to details. We had a good Captain who kept us well informed with so many sights along the way. This would be one of the most exciting cruises we have experienced. Each day was an adventure with ever changing scenery and climate. Hot sunshine to cold snow ... and great ports of call. Just one things I must mention about Celebrity .... We had a small problem (not one to spoil our cruise), that I asked the ship about, as our agent made an error and had gone out of business. The ship showed a lot of concern and even offered a free call to sought it out. Being on holiday I said no ... not to worry, I am on holiday and am quite happy and its not Celebrity Cruise fault. For me that was it, I am happy with my balcony ... then out of the blue they gave us an upgrade to Concierge Class on the stern of the ship with a large balcony ... which, with the remarkable views of the Fjords just made the trip ... thank you Celebrity. Would we do this cruise again: Yes Rate Celebrity. Amazing and Customer Service beyond that expected. Buguebos Ferry Buenos Aires – 9 January 2009 – One Day I included this as its a great day trip from Buenos Aires with the high speed ferry to Colonia. Modern and clean boat. Would we do this again - Yes Zuiderdam Los Angeles – 29 September 2009 - One way ending in Fort Lauderdale Holland America as always the service was perfect and the food superb. Having previously been on the Amsterdam, a smaller ship, I felt it was not as personal. This however was more than made up for by the Captain who was just fantastic, friendly and happy to pass on his knowledge. This was a great itinerary as it took us to places we had never experienced before and we have now sailed along most of the Pacific Coast of the Americas. Would we do this cruise again: Yes Rate Holland America. Great as always .. and the Captain made it exta good. Carnival Destiny Miami – 15 October 2009 Carnival Cruises: Everything was good with Carnival and the food and shows outstanding. Just being a four day cruise it had a party feeling and was a little noisy We enjoyed the ports of call as Key West is a place we enjoy and Cuzumel was a new part of Mexico for us. Would we do this cruise again: No (I think my scene is the longer cruise). Rate Carnival. Very good value with lots happening on the ship. Uniworld River Duchess Budapest – 5 June 2010 - One way to Amsterdam Uniworld: The river boats, being smaller are very personlised in every way. Amazing attention to detail and meals were superb with fresh ingredients from the various stops. This was our first river cruise. It was excelled in every respect and very different from the big ships. Being a smaller crew, one is soon greeted with a big smile as they take exception care of you. Sightseeing is included at the stops. This is of a high standard and very well run ri show the highlights. Would we do this cruise again: Yes. Rate Uniworld Exceptional and often beyond that expected. Eurodam Dover 29 June 2010 Dover - One way ending Copenhagen Holland America: The service and meals were excellent ... one always got a smile This was a 10 day cruise with exception ports of call in the Baltic. It was most enjoyable and the opportunity to spend a few days in Copenhagen at the end. Solstice Barcelona 7 June 2011 - Barcelona roundtrip CelebrityBarcelona Spain Villefranche France also visit Nice and Canne Livorno - Italy for Florence Civitavecchia - Rome Italy Naples Italy Kotor Montenegro Venice Italy Dubrovnic Croatia Back to Back Barcelona Spain Civitavecchia - Rome Italy Naples Italy Thira Santorini Greece Kusadasi Turkey Myconos Greece Athens Greece Valletta Malta Barcelona Spain Calebrity : This was our first time on one of the new large ships. It was fantastic, gave a feeling of space. Service and the meals were perfect as with previous Celebrity Cruises. Being back to back we visited Rome and Naples twice. This worked well as they both offer so much to see. Barcelona being a main port in the Meditterranean is always a pleasure. Would we do this cruise again: Yes Rate Celebrity. Excellent value with fine service and standards.
