Budapest - Danube

Hungary. Budapest a most beautiful city, The countries capital with a setting beside the Danube.

On either side of the River Danube the towns of Buda and Pest became Budapest.

I suggest the On Off Bus to see the city, it's very spread out Buda side being hilly. Must See I have listed (see list) together with some other ideas.

Local rail and trams are good but make sure you get a ticket. In the case of the tram this can be confusing and I never really worked this out.

For shopping suggest you go to Vaci Street. Closed to traffic it has good shopping, cafes and restaurants.

Budapest City of Spa. This is a link with information of the various Spa's in the city. View Spas Budapest . They are quite amazing places and worth a visit.

Szentendre outside of Budapest is a nice day out. An arty town, it can be reached by rail with a short walk from the station to the old town. View Szentendre

River Cruises. Many of them berth along the Danube, walking distance to the main areas.

Szentendre - Danube

Hungary. Szentendre is a charming Village with its main square and churches all set beside the Danube.

Its a charming town with main square and narrow roads to explore. These will take you up the hill to another square with views over the town or down to the banks of the Danube.

You have many shops with items by local people of many types. In my case I have a number of pieces of pottery.

Apart from the small shops you have cafes and restaurants ... you could net get a better place to sit than overlooking the square.

Its easy to get to Szentendre from Budapest by local train which is inexpensive or you can take a local sightseeing tour.

Its a little town I enjoy to visit.

Rome

Rome. Capital city of Italy and home to Vatican City ... The Eternal City.

As you sightsee in Rome you can only marvel at the wonders it has to show you with history over 2700 years. With so much to see you should plan in advance.

Some of the main sights of Rome,are an easy walk between them. An example the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum are next to each other (plus the entrance ticket to the Colosseum also provides entrance to the other two places).

The Vatican if you plan to see St Peters and the Vatican Museum, it can take the best part of a day.

We find the mix of walking, the Hop On Hop Sightseeing Bus, the best way to see Rome in our own time ... but get a guide book and map.

In the busy season, you get long lines for many of the sights. You are able to book online in advance with an entry time ... this is a good idea as it can save a lot of wasted time. - You can get information -

Naples

Naples Italy ... Napoli An exciting city, gateway to beautiful areas of Italy.

Naples in Southern Italy, A costal city in one of the most beautiful bays in Italy ... the Bay of Naples. Approximately two hours south of Rome.

Naples, a busy city has much to see in the city and on trip away from the city by train or ferry.

We suggest, the Hop On Hop Off Bus, it's the best way to get around and see the main sights. It's a one day pass however, so plan we care, within the city centre is easy to walk with a map.

From Naples by train you can visit Pompeii or by ferry Capri. Both are very special places and worth the visit.

We have shown a selection of arranged sightseeing, on our website if you prefer to be taken care of.

For those on a Cruise ... they dock near the city.
