Cartagena a charming walled city overlooking the ocean in Eastern Spain. The city with narrow street, castle and park provide an interesting and relaxed town to visit.

Sightseeing Cartegena

A city to see on foot to explore its history. Built on the remains of an old roman city, these are now being slowing excavated and can be seen in various areas.

Be sure to take the lift to Conception Castle with the park and fine views also visit the The Roman Theatre.

Murcia
Murcia is about 47 km from Cartagena. Well worth a visit and another place to be seen on foot.

Suggest you visit the The Tourist Information stand in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga for information and a map.

Murcia can be reached by train from Cartagena.

Getting Around Cartagena

Air: San Javier International Airport Murcia approx approx 25 kilometers from Cartagena. Handles both domestic and international flights.

Transfers: A taxi is the best means of reaching Cartagena from the airport.

Taxis: These are available.

Cruises Ships: The port is close to the town and the ships normally have a shuttle the the city. The ship may also offer a tour to Murcia.

I find Cartagena a very nice place to spend time walking around the town and castle. It has much of interest with the houses and balconies, castle and its history dating back to around 209 BC.

Very nice and well worth a visit.
