Rhodes

Rhodes an island of age old history and natural beauty. The largest island in the Dodecanese. Rhodes the islands capital with its old and new towns offers much to see and explore

Sightseeing Rhodes

Rhodes capital is best explore on foot. Set around the harbour Mandraka with its windmills and boats along the quay. The old walled medieval town with its narrow street and squares but still alive with shops and cafes. The new town with its market and stroll along the harbour to the beaches.

Must see's when exploring Rhodes

Rhodes In the old town The Grand Master's Palace and the Street of the Knights.

LindosLindos Lindos. The Acropolis, Village and Harbour. We suggest you walk along waterfront in Rhodes and take one of the many boats offering tour to Lindos. This is a perfect day, you travel along the coast until you see Ancient Acropolis built on a steep rock overlooking the town and coast. They give you time to visit the Acropolis and Old Town with its narrow winding street and a stop for refreshments. Couple of suggestions wear comfortable shoes, it's a climb to the Acropolis. You may like to pack swimmers as you have a beach at Lindos and on a hot day a quick dip can be cooling.

Temple of Apollo and Ancient StadiumThe Temple of Apollo and the Ancient Stadium. The stadium dates back to the second century. Close by you have the remains of the Temple of Apollo. Well worth a visit and you can walk from the city of Rhodes.

These are just a few things that are easily seen. The island however offers much more along its coast and inland. Local Buses can be taken to many of these ares.

My Travels Neil Walker - View All
Rhodes, one of my favorite islands. The main town set beside the harbour with the old and new to explore.

It's a walking town, the old walled city has narrow streets that take one back to the knights of old, the new part has the bustle of the harbour front, the market, the bronze deer at the harbour entrance as one can stroll to the beach close to the city.

For me a visit to the Old City and Grand Master's Palace are a must plus a visit to Lindos by boat.

I always visit the Ancient Stadium for nostalgic reasons. Many years ago, with my Mother and Father, we discovered it by chance when walking ... there it was more or less in a field with just us to marvel at it's beauty.
