Fine beaches for every taste ... quite or wild and noisy.

Sightseeing Mykonos

Myconos is a place to see and explore on ones own. It has local buses and boats that offer services to the beaches and Delos.

For me ... the perfect day starts with the beach, light lunch near the beach then in the evening head in to the main town for dinner.

The main town, a joy to explore with narrow streets (walk ways), many shops, tavernas and restaurants.

Delos is a must see and can easily be reached from Mykonos by boat.

Delos is historically important, it's ruins dating back to 3000 BC and according to Mythology, Delos is the birthplace of Apollo. It is uninhabited.

Getting Around the Islands - Mykonos

Air: Mykonos Airport has regular flight. Located approx 4 km from the town. A local bus and taxis are available.

Ferry: The "Old Port" is in the main town of Chora. The "New Port" is in Tourlos 2 to 3 km away. Bus and Taxi is available.

Cruises Ships: They berth outside of the center. About a 20 minute walk or they have shuttles to the town. Just a word of caution if walking, it's an easy walk along the waterfront road, but ... the has no pathway and is narrow, be care full of the traffic.

I have been here many times .... its my #1 island destination.

Mykonos has become famous for it's beaches and fun. The perfect place to relax in the day and party at nightly.

It does have a serious side however, the main town is enchanting, with the narrow seats and the harbour. A visit to the nearby island of Delos is well worthwhile, for those interested in history.

My preference is to stay in the Ornus Beach area, a great place to relax in the day, one can take a boat from the beach to other beaches for the day, you have the local bus to town for the evening.
