Its a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A walking town to see the sights, with narrow cobbled streets and a large square. It has magnificent architecture with the facades of the buildings decorated in detailed ornamentation. Sightseeing Bamberg The Imperial Cathedral Bamberg Rider On one of the seven hills overlooking the town, dating back to the middle ages. The cathedral is known for the Bamberg Rider (around 1235), interestingly it's not know who created it or who it represents. Old Town Hall Built in the middle of the river Regnitz in the 14th century. The building stands out as it is pained in a baroque style. New Residence Facing the Cathedral and built between 1697 and 1703. Houses the National Library and National Gallery. Rose Garden In season the display of Roses can only be admired with the colours and garden design. Its a wonderful town to walk around with the little shops and taverns in the old quarter. The new area is nice with shops and some stalls for fresh fruit. Getting Around Bamburg Car: If touring this is a good stop for maybe a couple of days. River Cruises: A stop with many of the river cruises and some would include a tour of the town. You need transport to the center.
