Nice with its long beach (stony beach not sand), overlooked by the Promenade des Anglais, offers the chance to stroll and take in the blue Mediterranean or relax at the beach (Areas of the beach are open to the public), but some are private for hotel guests only.

Nice has a busy International Airport. Making it easy to visit from many other countries.

Sightseeing Nice

Being a large city with many visitors ... makes sightseeing easier as a large range of sightseeing tours are available from Nice, many are also available from Cannes.

Its quite a flat city and easy to explore if you like walking. Some of the places we suggest:

La Prom by the locals or Promenade des Anglais.
Busy in the summer and fun to stroll

Cours Saleya Flower Market
Flower Market except on a Monday when its flea market. Around the market you have cafes and shops.

Nice Old Town
Wander the narrow streets with a wide range of cafes, shops offering interesting wares.

Nice Port
A busy and interesting small port with ferries to Corsica

One should also visit the Massena Museum and the Russian Cathedral.

Famous and well worth a visit to see the Palace, Casino and the views looking over the bay.

Perched on a high rocky pinnacle above the Mediterranean.

A hill village of Nice with winding street and medieval buildings

Grasse
Center of worlds perfume industry. Grass is surrounded by fields of flowers.

Cannes
Famous for its many festivals. The Boulevard de la Croisette with gardens and palm trees.

Getting Around Nice

Air: Nice
A busy airport with International Flights. One needs to check with your airline or agent for advise, not all airlines fly in to Nice.

Bus: Nice Airport has buses to Nice. Express buses 98 and 99 and city bus 23 depart from outside of terminals 1 and 2 at Nice airport.

Bus services from Nice are available along the coast, but one should check details on these and the times in advance, unless you are traveling with lots of time.

Taxis: These are available at the airports.

Nice is a central place to stay for those that wish to explore the Cote d'Azur and the Grasse area of the South of France.

Less expensive than its famous neighbor Monaco its easy to visit Monty Carlo.

For me I like to drive to the Grasse area, explore and have lunch in a small restaurant.
