Noosa

The Sunshine Coast is a beautiful area with fine sandy beach and parks.

It has a number of town along the coast all of which offer a fine selection of accommodation, mainly apartment style with a few hotels and motels.

To give some understanding we will travel to the end of the Sunshine Coast and then head back (south) towards Brisbane.

Noosa is made up of a number of areas:

Noosa Hastings Street - View Noosa Hastings Street -
Noosa Hastings StreetMany would say the jewel of Noosa. It has a selection of fine places to stay, some of which front the beach, excellent restaurants and shops.

It has the best location with the main beach and just a nice walk away, parks with sandy bays and walking trails.

It is the most expensive area of Noosa for shopping and accommodation.

Noosa Sound - View Noosa Sound -
Located behind Hastings Street. Its an easy, flat walk to Hastings and Main Beach. It has a few restaurants.

Noosa Heads - View Noosa Heads -
Noosa JunctionAn area on the hill behind Noosa. You get great views from many of the properties to the Ocean or Noosa River areas.

From the beach the road takes you up the hill, its quite steep, to Noosa Junction with many shops and supermarkets.

Noosaville - View Noosaville -
Noosaville RiverSet along the Noosa River. Its an area, I have seen change over the years, becoming a great area to stay.

The river offers a lovely walking area, boating, fishing and good restaurants with views of the river.

It offers a good selection of places to stay in all price brackets.

Sunshine Beach - View Hotels Sunshine Beach -
Noosa Sunshine BeachJust outside of Noosa with an ocean beach. A quieter area with a nice selection of accommodation and a few restaurants and shops.

A lovely area but its prices are more upmarket.

Mooloolaba - View Mooloolaba -

Sightseeing Sunshine Coast

The driving distance between Noosa and Caloundra is only 34 miles (55 km) so the things to see and do apply to all of the town shown above.

You have fine sandy beaches, parks and hinterland towns. The sunshine coast has miles of beaches, please remember, you should only swim between the flags, they can be dangerous.

Golf: The most famous course would be at the Hyatt Coolum. The area however has many courses of varying difficulty.

Getting to the Sunshine Coast

Air: Maroochy (Sunshine Coast) Airport for Domestic Flights. Well located for the area. You are able to arrange a transfer at the airport. Taxi's are available.

Air: Brisbane for International Flights. The average about one and half hours to any of the parts of the Sunshine Coast by car. Transfers can be booked at the airport but will take longer.

Rail: Trains are available to Nambour. A local bus is then required to the coastal area. One should check the rail and bus times in advance. Trains also stop at Eumundi and Coooroy but, they are few and the connection could be difficult.

My Travels Neil Walker - View All

Car Bike ScampThe Sunshine is a very beautiful part of Queensland.

For me, a place to relax, explore the countryside, enjoy the beach and just lay back.

For those wanting more activity however, you have great beaches, golf courses, boating and tennis. National Parks with walking tracks.

A must is Fraser Island. You can get four wheel drive tours via the beach which will show you the many highlights ... apart from the island, the four wheel drive ride is an adventure of its own.

You will also find some fine restaurants along the coast with every type of food.

I had some great fun getting around with my four wheel, bike and scamp.
